Crochet Flower Garland Instructions

The six petals in this daisy flower were created with an extra puffy puff stitch. Please check the section “special stitch” above before you start.

Step #1: Center of The Flower

Round 1: With color 1 – make a mc, then ch 2 (this counts as a hdc), 5 hdc in the mc, pull the end to cinch the mc, sl st to join. FO. Cut the yarn.

Step #2: Daisy Petals (6)

Round# 2: With color 2 – *(Ch 3, puff st in the space between the current and next st – not on top of the st, ch 3, sl st in the same st)* into the first st, repeat instructions between asterisks 5 more times for the rem petals. FO. Cut the yarn. Weave in all the leftover ends.

Step #3: Crochet More Flowers

Follow the instructions above to crochet as many flowers as you like to create your Crochet Flower Garland in your preferred size.

Tip: Are you decorating for an outdoor party? Use up your leftover yarns to make your garland super colorful – make bunches to create swag style garlads.

Step #4: Assemble the garland

Assembling this crochet flower garland is easy. Just follow these steps and place the flowers about one to two inches apart.

  • Cut craft string, such as jute twine cord, to the size you want your garland to be. Remember to add extra cord length at each end for hanging.
  • Tread a big-eyed tapestry needle with the cord.
  • String your flowers one at a time, passing the needle through the stitches on one or two petals at the back of each flower.
  • Since I used jute twine cord, I didn’t have to make knots to hold the flowers in place. However, a knot might be needed at the back of the flowers if you’re using any other slippery cords.
  • If using different colors, arrange the flowers in an alternating patterned sequence.

Crochet Flower Garland FAQ’s

Is this flower garland easy for beginners?

Not if you’re an absolute beginner. However, if you’re comfortable with chains, magic circles, half-double crochet, fastening off, and weaving in yarn ends.

Can I use thinner yarns to crochet this flower garland?

Absolutely! This project is perfect for using up your leftover yarns. However, remember that the flowers will be smaller when you use lightweight yarns. Making them in a variety of sizes is also a great idea.

Can I make something else instead of a garland?

Certainly! In addition to other ideas, you can use these puffy daisy crochet flowers to create tiaras or as motifs for decorating blankets, cushions, and clothing.
