Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I especially love watching the summer greens gradually turn into shades of gold, orange, red, and brown. When I designed these placemats, I wanted to capture some of those warm autumn colors in a practical crochet project I could use around my home.
For my samples, I chose Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, one of my favorite cotton yarns for home décor projects. I’ve worked with this yarn on many of my crochet designs, like my large maple leaf pattern and my 2D pumpkin garland. I love its smooth stitch definition and wide range of colors—including plenty of beautiful shades for an autumn palette.
The pattern comes in two sizes, approximately 12″ (30.5 cm) and 15″ (38 cm) in diameter. Use them as individual placemats for a fall or Thanksgiving table setting, or get creative and use one as a decorative mat beneath a plant pot or centerpiece.
