I created these stitch instructions using a combination of half-double crochet stitches and chains in an eight-row repeat pattern. The stitches are worked in a particular order to form interesting diamond shapes.
However, this stitch can also be created using a combination of double crochets, chain stitches, and single crochets.

This tutorial uses standard US crochet terminology.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Stitch multiple: 10 + 4
Row multiple: 8 rows (2-9)
Materials
- Yarn: I recommend worsted–weight yarns to create a swatch and practice the diamond lace crochet stitch. However, DK/lightweight yarns or thinner yarns work better for lace stitches.
- Crochet Hook: choose a hook size that best suits your yarn choice.
- Stitch marker: for a stitch like this one with several row repeats, a stitch marker helps keep track of counting.
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
