I designed this crochet witch from the feet up, joining the legs before continuing seamlessly into the torso and head. The separate arms are attached with the crochet hook as you work the body, which eliminates the need to sew them on afterward. The skirt is crocheted directly into the unworked front loops around the body, giving the doll a clean finish.
My sample was crocheted primarily with white yarn to create a unique character that looks like a whimsical combination of a ghost and a witch. However, you can use traditional witch colors—such as black, purple, green, and orange—to give your doll a more classic Halloween look.
The pointed hat is made separately and finished with a contrasting band and wide brim. You can sew it permanently to the head or leave it removable. A few stitches are also used to bend and shape the tip of the hat, adding even more personality to the finished doll.
This is an intermediate-level pattern. Although it uses familiar Amigurumi stitches, you should be comfortable working in continuous rounds, shaping pieces with increases and decreases, joining legs, attaching limbs as you crochet, and following detailed written instructions.

Finished Doll Size
The finished crochet witch measures approximately 10 inches (25.5 cm) tall without the hat.
The final size may vary depending on the yarn, hook size, crochet tension, and amount of stuffing used. Thicker yarn and a larger hook will create a bigger doll, while lighter yarn and a smaller hook will create a smaller version.
Exact gauge is not crucial for this project. However, your stitches should be tight and even enough to prevent the fiberfill from showing through the crocheted fabric.

Crochet Witch Instructions
Before you get started with your Amigurumi witch, be sure to review the materials list and pattern notes above. They include helpful information to ensure your crochet witch turns out just right!
As I mentioned above, I chose to crochet my entire doll in white yarn for a whimsical look. But feel free to use classic witch colors or your favorite color combination to make her your own!
Arms (2x)
R1: sc 6 in a mc
R2: (sc inc) x6. [12]
R3: (sc inc, sc 3) x3. [15]
R4-8: sc around. [15]
R9: (sc dec, sc 3) x3. [12]
R10-22: sc around. [12]
Stuff the lower halves of the arms firmly, then use less stuffing in the upper halves. This makes it easier to position and attach them at the shoulders.
R23: (sc dec) x6. Cut the yarn, FO, and set them aside. [6]
Feet / Legs (2x)
R1: 5 chs, sc inc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 chs, sc 5 in last ch. Now, do the sts in the opposite side of chs: sc in each of the next 2 chs, sc in the same ch you did the first inc. [12]
R2: (sc inc) x2, sc in next 2 sts, (hdc inc) x5, sc in next 2 sts, sc inc. [20]

Maggie’s Pro Tip: If the gaps between the hdc stitches are large enough for the fiberfill to show through, turn the feet inside out and use a yarn needle with matching yarn to stitch the gaps closed. Then, turn the feet right side out and continue with the next steps.
R6: 2 sc, sc dec, 4 sc, (hdc2tog) x5, 5 sc. [17]
R7-23: sc around. Cut the yarn for the first leg only, then crochet the 2nd leg and proceed to the next step. [17]
Join the Legs and Crochet the Torso
Position both legs side by side, making sure the toes are facing forward and slightly inward.
R24: 2 sc in the current leg and ch 1. Insert the hook into the 12th st of the first leg and sc. Sc in the next 16 sts around the first leg, then sc in the FLO of the ch-1. Sc in the next 15 sts around the second leg. [35 sc; ch-1 bridge]
R25: 2 sc, sc in the BLO of the ch-1 in the previous round, sc in each rem st around. [36]

Hair or no hair?
As I mentioned in the introduction, I chose to leave my crochet witch bald to give her the whimsical appearance of a Halloween creature that’s part witch and part ghost. If you’d prefer to add hair, the wig from my Amigurumi Mermaid pattern would work perfectly for her.
Skirt
With the white yarn, return to round 38 and join the yarn in any of the unworked FLO sts. You’ll use these loops to begin crocheting the skirt.
Note: If you prefer, you can leave the skirt until the end and crochet it as the final step.
R1: Sc in FLO around. [42]
R2: Ch 1 to start this every round in the skirt (does not count as a st), then (3 hdc in the next st, hdc in each of the next 2 sts) x14. [70]
R3: [(Hdc inc) x3, hdc in each of the next 2 sts] x14. [112]
R4–11: Hdc around. [112]
R12: With the hat color, sl st around. FO and cut the yarn. [112]
Ears (2x)
With the white yarn, create a magic circle, leaving a starting tail approximately 5 inches (13 cm) long. Ch 1, work 6 hdc into the magic circle, then sl st into the ring. Do not join.
Pull the magic circle tightly closed, cut the yarn, and leave a finishing tail approximately the same length as the starting tail. Using both yarn tails and a tapestry needle, sew each ear securely to the sides of the head.
Embroider the Face
Using the white yarn, embroider the nose centered one round below the eyes. With dark thread, embroider the mouth and eyebrows. Refer to the the image of my crochet witch doll below as a guide for positioning and shaping the facial features on your crochet witch.

Use purple and black yarn as indicated.

Shape the Hat Tip
Thread a tapestry needle with a strand of matching yarn. Starting near the top of the hat, stitch downward through the fabric from the inside to gently pull and bend the pointed tip into the desired shape. Secure the yarn and weave in the ends. Your crochet witch doll is done!
