About The Pattern
This bandana pattern uses US crochet terminology. It is crocheted bottom up using the technique C2C (corner to corner) with the crochet granny stitch.
If you want to adapt it to a smaller size or use a different yarn weight, increase the pattern size to approximately 2” to 3” (5 to 8 cm) smaller than the head circumference.

Crochet Bandana Pattern
Overall Notes:
Level of difficulty: Intermediate.
Gauge: Row 7 of the pattern measured across (7 dc clusters) = 5.5” (14 cm).
Size: The finished size for this crochet bandana pattern will be approximately 20” (51 cm) wide, not including the ties.
Materials:
- Light Worsted (#3) Yarn (more on the yarn below).
- 3.5 mm (US E) crochet hook.
- Scissors.
- Tapestry Needle.
Yarn:
I used Coboo by Lion Brand, a 51% Cotton, 49% Rayon from Bamboo. Light Worsted (3) weight. You will need approximately 2.20 oz (63 g), or 146 yds (134 m).
Abbreviations and Terms:
- blo: back loop only
- ch(s): chain(s)
- cluster: three double crochet stitches in the same space.
- dc: double crochet
- FO: Fasten-Off
- rep: repeat
- sl st: slip stitch
- sp: space
- st(s): stitch(es)
- ( ): Repeat instructions in parentheses as many times as directed.

Crochet Bandana Pattern Instructions
Chain 5 to start.
Row1: (dc 3, ch 1, dc) into 5th ch from the hook, ch 4, turn.
Row2: dc 3 into the first ch 1 sp, (dc 3, ch 1, dc) into the last ch 1 sp, ch 4, turn.
Row3: dc 3 into the first ch 1 sp, dc 3 into the next sp between the two following clusters, (dc 3, ch 1, dc) into the last ch 1 sp, ch 4, turn.
Row4: dc 3 into the first ch 1 sp, (dc 3 into the next sp between the two following clusters) to last, (dc 3, ch 1, dc) into the last ch 1 sp, ch 4, turn.
Row5-25: Repeat row 4.
At the end of row 25 ch 41. Turn. Do not cut the yarn.
Note: you will create the ties as you go in row 26.
Ties
Row26: sl st in back bump of next 40 chs, sl st in each st across row 25, ch 41, sl st in back bump of next 40 chs. Do not cut the yarn.
Edging
The scalloped edging for this crochet bandana pattern will be added to the sides of the bandana only. Here is how you do it:
- First, sc into the first side space in row 25.
- Then, dc 6 in the next side sp.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 around. Sc in the last space. Sl st to finish. Cut the yarn. Fasten off and weave in all the ends.
Note: You won’t skip a space at the bottom of the triangle. Instead, make the fan stitch at the bottom of the first cluster of the pattern.
